Cathedral Vase
Delicate fused glass bud vase, part of the Cathedral Collection. The vase comprises two layers of transparent glass to create a number of custom colours. The inspiration for the design is the reflection and refraction patterns seen on the ground when sunlight shines through a stained glass window. The effect is achieved by building a glass blank from transparent 1mm glass stringers arranged and fused together before being cut up and arranged in two overlapping layers. The blank is sagged through a ring in the kiln, the outside frame removed and the rim polished to produce a beautiful, slender bud vasel.
